Science at FACS begins with Genesis--"God created the heavens and the Earth." As one of our teachers puts it: "The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. If you start, as some schools do, with the premise that God does not exist, you only frustrate students in trying to acquire knowledge, and that's not logical. If, however, you begin with an understanding that God put all of our natural laws into motion, then you can eagerly engage in the process of discovery."
Junior high students are given a basic foundation in both biology and Earth science. High school students are required to complete a minimum of three science courses, choosing from biology or honors biology, anatomy and physiology, physical science, chemistry, advanced chemistry and physics. The latter course utilizes a college text.
In addition to acquiring knowledge needed for college entrance examinations and postsecondary coursework, students also gain insight into scientific issues in the context of a Christian worldview.
