Under the direction of Dana Duncan, FACS students may participate in band in grades 6-12. The sixth grade beginner band performs three times per year. The junior high band (grades 7-8) performs two concerts each year, marches in two parades per year with the high school, and travels in the spring for a festival competition. The high school band begins in the summer with band camp, competes in five or six marching competitions during the fall, performs at all home football games and some away games, plays at home basketball games, performs several concerts per year, and travels for spring festival competition. Band students also participate in All West Tennessee Band, All West Tennessee Orchestra, All State Band, and Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Colorguard is available for senior high girls. The guard performs with the high school band in the fall. In addition, students in elementary and secondary school may take private lessons through the FACS School of Music. Lessons in piano, violin, guitar and band instruments are held during and after school. Kindermusik is also available for our youngest students.
