FACS maintains a strong forensics program with a rigorous competition schedule. Our focus on forensics allows a large number of students in the fifth through 12th grades to participate. Elementary students begin their exploration of forensics (the art and skill of communicating truthfully and well) in an after-school club. Junior and senior high students prepare for competition during the school day.
In addition to the 20 categories available for forensic competition (duet acting, prose interpretation, oratory, etc.), students at FACS also participate in Student Congress, debate, and mock trial.
Gail Marcum, who directs all of our theatre arts teams, said she believes strongly in competitions that develop our students' research and communications skills because Christians are Biblically directed to "study to show thyself approved unto man," and to "go into all the world" to share the truth.
