The football progam at First Assembly Christian School is about so much more than Friday night lights.
Weekly Bible studies, prayer breakfasts, Christian service opportunities, and leadership training are all part of the program.
On the field, the team has a highly successful record with 24 wins in the last three seasons and competitive stats that demonstrate success.
Off the field, the team has invested in an ongoing relationship with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Students not only raise funds to support the hospital but also volunteer at Target House, the hospital's long-term family residencial facility.
2009 Season Wrap-Up
The Varsity Crusaders finished with an overall record of 8-4. This is the third consecutive year we have won a playoff game, and the third consecutive year we were awarded the A.F. Bridge’s Sportsmanship award for the city. Dane Wilson finished as the leading scorer in the Memphis area (all divisions) with 27 touchdowns and more than 1,700 yards rushing. FACS’s offense finished third in total offense (all divisions) in the Memphis area. Dane Leake finished the season ranked fifth in Memphis in receiving.
Come-from-behind wins against Harding Academy (avenging a playoff loss from last year) and Donelson Christian Academy (first round of the playoffs) highlight the season on the field. St. Jude Rally Week and trips to the Target House were most exciting off-field moments. We graduate 21 senior football players who will be difficult to replace, but many starters from this year will return next season on both sides of the ball. I look forward to another great season next year! –Coach Don Purvis
