Faculty & Staff

Kendall Boyd

  Kendall Boyd joined the FACS staff full time in

  2008 and teaches seventh grade literature and

  sophomore English. She also coaches volleyball.

  Ms. Boyd graduated from FACS in 2003 as class

  valedictorian. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English

  with a minor in history from the University of

  Memphis. She served as a volleyball coach at FACS during the 2007-2008 school year. Ms. Boyd has been involved in numerous missions outreach activities.

Traci Dobson

Traci Dobson joined the FACS faculty in 2009 and teaches sophomore and junior English. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis. Mrs. Dobson taught high school English for nine years at Millington Central High School and has also taught dual enrollment English through the University of Memphis. She quotes a favorite scripture regarding her work: "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (I Peter 4:9-11)

Robby Donaldson

Robby Donaldson joined FACS in 2009 and serves as head baseball coach and assistant football coach. He also maintains our athletic fields. Coach Donaldson holds a Bachelor of Science in physical education from the University of Memphis. He previously taught Bible and served as a coach at Briarcrest Christian School. "I look forward to all the good things that God is going to do through FACS," he said, adding a favorite scripture, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, and have been called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Susanne L. Faulkner

Susanne Faulkner joined the FACS staff in 2002. She

teaches pre-algebra and algebra to eighth grade

students and manages the schools computer technology. Mrs. Faulkner holds a Bachelor of  Science in journalism from the University of Memphis and a Master of Education from Christian Brothers University. Prior to entering the teaching profession, she worked in business and advertising.

Dale Flickinger

Dale Flickinger has been an FACS staff member since 1990 and teaches our advanced mathematics courses, including AP calculus, precalculus, honors algebra II and honors geometry. He also serves as chess coach. In addition, he directs a citywide chess program with about 1,500 players, Memphis Scholastic Chess. He received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and Biblical studies from Evangel University. Mr. Flickinger said he tries to live his life in light of one of his favorite praise choruses. “Knowing Jesus is the greatest thing,” he said. “He’s my all, He’s my best, He’s my joy, my righteousness, and I love Him!”

 

Barbara Foster

Barbara Foster teaches junior high social studies, and

has been on the FACS faculty since 1992. She holds a

Bachelor of Science in elementary education (grades

one through nine) from the University of Tennessee-

Martin, and a Master of Religious Education from

International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida. Previously, she taught in the Memphis City Schools and at Frayser Baptist School and served as elementary principal at Skyview Academy. “I truly love to teach school,” Mrs. Foster says. “My motto in life is, ‘to enjoy your work and to accept your lot in life—that is indeed a gift from God,’ based on Ecclesiastes 5:19.”

Laurie Gardner

Laurie Gardner teaches honors chemistry, chemistry and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from the University of Memphis, where she is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching. Ms. Gardner is certified to teach science in grades 7-12 and has taught Spanish to homeschool groups for three years. She also spent six years serving as a house parent at the Bartlett campus of Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes, Inc. Her life verse is found in Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save; He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will quiet thee with His love; He will joy over thee with singing.”

Jason Hall

Jason Hall teaches secondary Bible I and II.

He also serves as junior varsity football coach. He holds

a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and missions from Central

Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He also has

studied history at the University of Memphis

and commercial aviation at Delta State University. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, and served for seven years as a youth pastor before coming to FACS in 2005. “I’m thrilled to be at FACS because I believe in the school’s purpose and mission,” Mr. Hall said.

 

Sherrie Hopper

  Sherrie Hopper joined the FACS staff in 2008 and

  teaches high school world history, geography and

  government. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in political

  science with a minor in criminal justice, and a

  Master of Arts in political science with an emphasis in

  international law and public policy from the University

  of Memphis. She is a licensed instructor in history and government and is currently working toward her Ph.D. in history. "I am so thankful that God's plan for my family included FACS," Ms. Hopper said. "I hope to glorify Him by being a blessing to the students and faculty at FACS both in the classroom and out."

Scott Johnson

Scott Johnson joined teaches American history, AP American history and U.S. government and serves as an assistant coach in both basketball and football. Mr. Johnson comes to us from the Midwest and brings with him a decade of teaching experience in Missouri and Iowa. In addition to history and social studies, he has also taught courses in special education, careers, and life science, has served as a chess and mock trial team coach, and has coordinated school-to-work efforts. Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy with minors in studio art and history from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education (social studies, American history, world history, geography) with Teaching Certification from the University of Iowa. He is also College Board certified to teach AP American history.

 

Amy Lindberg

Amy Lindberg directs the junior and senior high choirs, teaches music appreciation, and oversees the Chapel Worship Band. Ms. Lindberg is a 2005 graduate of FACS. She received her Bachelor of Arts in music with an emphasis on Christian studies from Union University in 2008. She joined the FACS staff in the fall of 2008. Her favorite quote is, "One life, which will soon be past, only what is done for Christ will last."

Erin Lindberg

Erin Lindberg joined the FACS teaching staff in 2006.

She teaches introduction to theatre arts, broadcasting

and speech, sponsors the FACS Thespian Society,

coaches our forensics team and directs theatrical

productions. Originally from Florence,

Alabama, Erin earned her Bachelor of Arts in

international studies from Rhodes College. Prior to joining the FACS staff, her experience included theatre and speech instruction at Playhouse on the Square and work for an area magazine.

 

Barbara McDade

  Barbara McDade teaches junior and senior high art

  classes and serves as co-sponsor of the FACS Student

  Government Association. She began teaching at FACS

  in 1984 and is known for individual attention to

  students’ artistic development. She holds a Bachelor of

  Arts in visual art from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. One of her favorite quotes: "In the arts students develop a sense of themselves.  Art education develops self-esteem helping students succeed in life."  (Sandy Brooks, “Hooked on Drawing.”  Englewood Cliffs: Prentice Hall, 1996). 

Clay Meadows

Clay Meadows joined FACS in 2008. He teaches junior high Bible, junior high life skills, and junior high boys’ physical education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Crichton University. He is a graduate of the FACS Class of 1999. Past work includes experience in retail management and banking. “My main goal at FACS is to allow God to use me in any way He wants for His purposes,” Mr. Meadows said. “I’m enjoying developing relationships with the students.”

 

Carol J. Metcalf

Carol Metcalf teaches sophomore and senior English and Advanced Placement English, which culminates in an AP Victorian Tea held each spring semester. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Furman University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Memphis. Prior to joining the FACS staff in 1993, Mrs. Metcalf taught at Raleigh Egypt High School for four years, at Bartlett High School for two years, and in South Carolina for three years.

 

Pamela Munsey

Pamela Munsey began teaching French to FACS

students in 2003, and serves students in grades eight through 12. She also teaches wellness classes and introduction to film. She began speaking French in high school and minored in French while earning a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Delta State University. She also has studied at the Alliance Francaise in Paris. Madame Munsey, as students call her, began her teaching career as a tutor and educational assistant. “Each class at FACS has its own personality,” she says. “Every day adds new meaning to teaching.”

Selwyn Parker

  Selwyn Parker teaches eighth grade and

  freshman English. She joined the faculty in

  2006. She earned both a bachelor's and master's

  degree in education at Murray State

  University in Murray, Kentucky. She previously

  taught in the Memphis City School system for about

  five years, homeschooled for nine years, and served as a tutor with Memphis Tutorial Association where she taught study skills classes in schools throughout the city and tutored students on an individual basis.

Kathy Petermann

Kathy Petermann joined the FAC S faculty in 2009 and teaches algebra 1, algebra 2, and honors algebra 2. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, and a Master of Education from Union University. She previously chaired the Math Department at Southern Baptist Educational Center. "When I was ten years old," she said, "God used my neighbors from First Assembly Christian Church to share the gospel with me through an after school Bible study. I trusted the Lord at that time, and feel so blessed now to be able to serve Him here at FACS.

Paul D. Piker

Mr. Piker teaches basic algebra I and II in the high school as well as a math-based physics course. He also coaches the FACS Knowledge Bowl team, instructs the ACT math

workshop, and assists with school sports teams. He

earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education for

mathematics from the University of Arkansas, and taught for 17 years in Arkansas prior to joining the FACS staff in 2004.

Linda Powell

Linda Powell has taught resource classes at FACS since

1988. Her current duties include remedial instruction

in high school English and math. Mrs. Powell works

closely with teachers in other areas to help her

students meet requirements in all of their subject

matter, and with the Guidance Department to provide her students with college and career planning tools specific to their individual needs. She holds a Master of Science in special education from the University of Memphis. “I believe all students CAN learn if properly taught. I love to watch them learn.”

 

Carolyn Priest

Eighth graders may take a full semester course in

critical thinking under Carolyn Priest, who joined the

staff in 2006. Mrs. Priest also teaches physical science and coordinates resource services for junior high students. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary

education with a minor in psychology from

Blue Mountain College, and a master’s degree in education from the University of Mississippi. She has taught junior kindergarten, fifth through eighth grade resource classes, and third through 12th grade homebound students, all in Mississippi. “FACS promotes the same Christian and moral values we do (as a family), as well as striving for academic excellence,” she said.

Lisa Pruett

Lisa Pruett is teaching a college and career

preparation/life skills class to high school juniors and

seniors. Mrs. Pruett holds a Bachelor of Science in

education with a merchandising concentration, along

with minors in business and art from the University of

Memphis. She has five years of corporate experience at

Federal Express and ten years of medical industry hiring experience.

Lisa Saunders

Lisa Saunders teaches junior high school

physical education and wellness. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Memphis, and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Additionally, she has completed Lee Canter educational courses. Lisa began teaching at the elementary level at FACS in 2002 and previously taught in the Shelby County Public Schools and in the Jefferson County School System in Birmingham, Alabama. She also has experience in substance abuse counseling with juveniles and adults.

Alicia Scarborough

Alicia Scarborough teaches anatomy and physiology. She is a 2009 graduate of Christian Brothers University with a Bachelor of Science in biology (pre-med) and a minor in chemistry. She said she plans to continue her education “according to God’s plan for my life.” Miss Scarborough shares a favorite verse that gives her eternal confidence: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5 NIV)

Stanley Scott

Stanley Scott joined the FACS staff in 2005, bringing

36 years’ teaching experience to his position in junior

high science. He received his Bachelor of Science in

education from Union University and a Master of Arts

in administration from the University of Memphis. He

also has added 45 post-graduate credit hours from the University of Memphis and Cumberland University. In addition to his teaching duties, he coaches the FACS varsity girls’ basketball team.

 

Dorie Short

Dorie Short chairs the FACS Science Department and

teaches biology, honors biology and advanced placement biology. She has been teaching at the school since

1980. She received her Bachelor of Science in

education with a major in biology as well as

a Master of Science in natural science from the

University of Memphis. Additional coursework was completed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Christian Brothers University and East Tennessee State University. Her favorite verse is Matthew 7:1, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”

Tim Simpson

Tim Simpson joined the FACS faculty in 2009. He directs all instrumental music activities, including our elementary and secondary bands and the School of Music. He also teaches music appreciation to high school students. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Memphis and has a decade of experience in band direction. Mr. Simpson is a member of the Germantown Church of Christ. He has claimed Colossians 3:23 as his verse in teaching: "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men."

Mary Spain

Mary Spain has taught at FACS since 1978. She holds a

Bachelor of Science in education from the University of

Memphis and is certified to teach all subjects in grades

one through nine. Currently, she teaches junior high

health.

 

Louise Thomas

Louise Thomas teaches accounting, economics and

computer keyboarding. She has taught at FACS

since 1992. She holds a Bachelor of Science

in business education from the Mississippi

University for Women and a master’s degree in

business education from the University of Mississippi.She has continued her education with post-graduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Memphis. Her career has included teaching positions at the high school and community college levels in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas and business experience for various service and industrial concerns.

Valerie Young

Valerie Young joined the FACS staff in 2009. She teaches seventh grade math and high school geometry courses. She received her Bachelor of Science in education from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and has also completed some graduate degree work at Houston Baptist University, Southwestern Theological Seminary in Texas, the University of Memphis, and the National Institute of Learning Disabilities at the Nazarene College in Chattanooga, TN. She has 11 years' teaching experience, including work locally with Christ Methodist Day School and Briarcrest Christian Schools. "I appreciate the opportunity FACS has given me to share my love of learning and my faith," she said, adding a favorite verse: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phillipians 4:13)

Jo Ann Webber

Jo Ann Webber teaches elementary computer, junior

high keyboarding, computer applications I and II, and

web design. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business

administration and a master’s degree in education

from the University of Memphis, and has taken several

doctoral courses. She joined FACS in 1986, having taught previously at Miller Hawkins Business College and the University of Memphis. She also has direct business experience in the areas of data processing and accounting.  

D'Marius Wilkes

Coach "D" Wilkes joined FACS as head varsity basketball coach in 2009.

He also serves as head cross country coach and teaches physical education and wellness courses. He holds a Bachelor of Education from Middle Tennessee State University, with a minor in athletic coaching. He previously taught and coached at White Station High School and Crichton College. He said he is excited about serving Christ as part of the FACS family. He tells his students that their development as young men who will serve God and lead their families wisely is as important to him as their development as athletes.

Greg Williford

Greg Williford teaches junior high physical education, wellness and learning lab. He joined the FACS staff in 2008. He also serves as an assistant football coach. Mr. Williford is a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, with a Bachelor of Arts in financial management. He served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He previously owned Southern Surgical. He said his life verses, Hebrews 12:1-2, guide him in his work at FACS. “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…” (NIV)
