In a momentous announcement, we are thrilled to share that Coach Mitch McDaniel has been appointed as the new Athletic Director at FACS, effective July 1, 2024. This internal appointment comes after a thorough and thoughtful selection process, recognizing Coach McDaniel's exceptional contributions to our school community.
Coach McDaniel is no stranger to FACS; he has been an integral part of our community, serving as the head football coach for the past three years. His dedication to our students, commitment to excellence, and unwavering support of our school's values make him the ideal candidate for this significant role.
Honoring a Legacy of Leadership: As we usher in this exciting new chapter, it is only fitting to take a moment to honor the legacy of our outgoing Athletic Director, Robert Downing. For the past seven years, Downing has been the guiding force behind the success and growth of our athletics program at FACS. His leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the development of student-athletes have left an indelible mark on our school.
Under Downing's stewardship, our athletic department has achieved remarkable milestones, including multiple championships and a sense of camaraderie among our teams. His vision and tireless efforts have elevated the standard of excellence, setting the stage for the bright future of FACS athletics.
As Robert Downing embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we express our deepest gratitude for his service and devotion to our school. His passion for sports and commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes have shaped the athletic landscape.
"In Coach McDaniel's 3 years, he's shown his ability to develop a successful football program and initiate multiple upgrades to the facilities all while evangelizing his players. I expect him to do for the entire athletics department what he has done for football", says Downing.

Coach McDaniel states "Coach Spain and Coach Downing laid the foundation for FACS Athletics. With our boys basketball team coming off a state championship, we want to carry the momentum into spring sports and the 2024/2025 school year."
